Maybelline Brow Drama | Review

by Kelly, January 26, 2014
My intention when I purchased the Maybelline Brow Drama was to use it instead of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel (retail price £16.50) I got mine in the colour dark brown which does not colour my eyebrows the way an actual mascara would colour your lashes, I got it to match my eyebrows not to tint them. I will say that I do not use the Brow Drama alone, I fill my brows in with the Brow Wiz (see here) and set them with the Brow Drama which does seem to do a good job of holding any stray hairs I might have in place throughout the day, this non clumping formula works well at evenly spreading the product and when the gel drys it doesn't feel like my eyebrows are frozen.

The wand is interesting, it's not your typical mascara wand the end is round so you can manoeuvre it around your brows catching every little hair and what if you have accidentally got the Brow Drama on anywhere but your brows? No problem it just wipes straight off with your finger, no make up wipes needed!

In conclusion I think this product is great it is the first of it's kind to appear in the drug store, it's long wearing and it's versatile, whether people with lighter brows just want to darken them up or if they just want to hold them in place it can do both of these things! I will say that if you are someone with patchy eyebrows this may not work for you, it could make your brows look even more patchy making them darker and it wouldn't fill gaps the way a brow pencil would.

What you are all wanting to know, the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculping Brow Mascara is a 7.6ml tube that retails at £4.99 you can find it here at Boots.

GLAMGLOW Youthmud Mud Mask | Review

by Kelly, January 21, 2014
I've had my eye on this product for a while, but I kept telling myself it was too expensive, but every time I refrained myself from buying it I would hear/see another review raving about it, so finally I caved and I think I am glad I did.
I must admit 15g is very little product for the price, that is it's real downfall (retail price £24.98 see link hereand normally I wouldn't of dreamt of buying it but after biting the bullet and trying it out for myself I can safely say I agree with everyone else out there raving about this award winning mask, it's incredible and that is only after one application! Now it does suggest you use this mask twice a week or as desired but honestly my bank balance could not afford me to use this mud mask twice a week, it would run out in no time. I think I would personally use this mask on myself maybe once a month as a sort of revitaliser for my skin to give it a bit of a boost because I can honestly say I noticed the difference after using this mask just the once, my skin was most definitely smoother my Mum actually could not stop stroking my skin I had to remind her that I wasn't the cat. And call me crazy but I swear my bags look less noticeable! One thing I can't tell is if my skin looks brighter, I don't see an overwhelming difference in that respect but this could change after I try it out a few more times.

GLAMGLOW Youthmud Mud Mask

If you don't like tingling sensations on your skin then you probably won't enjoy this mask, I would definitely say my skin was stinging for at least 5 minutes however it wasn't uncomfortable for me it was bearable not painful for me in the slightest. When the mask dried my face was pretty much frozen, and when it came to washing it off it was easy breezy to remove. This mud mask contains french sea clay, volcanic ash and potent botanical extracts and oils, I found the smell rather pleasant and refreshing upon application.
I look forward to using this mask again and again and who knows if another face mask doesn't knock it off its pedestal then I might just purchase it again!

Sigma Beauty | My Essential Brushes

by Kelly, January 13, 2014
After hearing about them and seeing them in action on Youtube from the likes of Jaclyn Hill and Nicole Guerriero I knew I had to get my hands on the Sigma make up brushes by Sigma Beauty and since purchasing these beauties nearly one year ago I haven't looked at any other make up brushes since. I have nothing but good things to say.. These are my holy grail when it comes to make up application and they are so much more affordable than MAC brushes. These brushes are made from synthetic fibres and are baby soft on the skin. I purchased my first Sigma Beauty Essential Kit with a set of twelve brushes from Amazon (see link here) for £108.00 which seems a lot of money straight of the bat but I see these brushes as more of an investment, that kit gave me every brush I needed for every type of make up application and to this day not one brush has fallen apart, or lost shape in the process of cleaning and most importantly to me there is no fall out! The most annoying thing with make up brushes is when the hairs fall out meaning they start to lose shape and effectively do not preform to a good enough standard, these brushes have done none of these things making me a very happy customer.

F30 - Large Powder Brush
I use this brush primarily for powder to set my make up and bronzer so give my skin a natural glow, this brush blends powders beautifully.

F80 - Flat Top Kabuki
I use this for foundation and foundation only! I absolutely love this brush I have never found another like it I tried the F60 and didn't really like it, I felt like it was smearing my foundation around my face leaving brush marks as opposed to evenly applying it, this gives my foundation a flawless finish and I couldn't live without it.

F40 - Large Angled Contour
Although the name of this brush suggests I should use it for contouring I actually use it for applying blush on the apple's of my cheeks it gives great results.

F35 - Tapered Highlighter
Perfect for highlighting the top of your cheek bones and if you are wondering why this brush is a copper colour and the rest are silver I took advantage of Sigma's free shipping back in December and purchased this from their copper collection along with some more blending brushes.

L-R E65 Small Angle
My eye routine would not be complete without these four brushes, together they make the perfect team in accomplishing a beautiful eye make up look from subtle to bold. I use the E65 to apply my gel liner (I use MAC fluid line in Blacktrack) I can change up my winged eyeliner from a small light work appropriate look for every day or a bold thick wing for weekends and evenings.
E30 - Pencil Brush
I primarily use this for more precise application of my eyeshadow, either in the outer V of my eye to pack on the colour accurately or for smoking out my lower lash line to give a more dramatic finish.
E25 - Blending
Well I think this one is pretty self explanatory but it gives me more controlled blending and allows me to buff out any harsh lines I might have.
E35 - Tapered Blending
The ultimate smokey eye brush, if I am creating a smokey eye for the evening time this brush is perfect for blending from the crease up to the brow bone creating a seamless finish.

Sigma is a US based company and although their website does offer worldwide shipping this can be expensive, they do offer free shipping on occasion and if you are interested in purchasing these brushes or any of their other products this is a good idea to look out for in the future as buying at the USD rate works out cheaper than purchasing from UK retailers. When I am purchasing my brushes in the UK I buy them from Love Make Up the prices are good and shipping is relatively speedy, I only recently discovered this website in the last 6-8 months, I wish I had discovered it sooner because their sets are cheaper than the sets on Amazon.
Hello! for those new to my blog, welcome.. I am new to the whole blogging scene and if you want to find out more about me just visit my about me page. Now on to the reason you are here, my review on the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, I purchased this product from Boot's at a reasonable £7.99 as the buzz in the beauty blogging world was rife with people mentioning this product as a dupe for the Benefit Porefessional (priced at a hefty £24.50) I have never purchased a full size Benefit Porefessional solely because of the price I could not justify paying that much money! However I have used sample sizes time and time again and I did like the formulation of the Porefessional and it did the job perfectly.

The Baby Skin like the Porefessional is a silicone based formula that is said to erase pores and give flawless looking skin, that for me it kind of did.. However I do feel like the word "Erase" is a bold statement to make, I felt like it did more blurring than anything else.. When I applied my foundation over the Baby Skin (I use the MAC pro longwear) it did feel like my make-up was slightly sliding around my face and my liquid eyeliner was slightly harder to apply than normal as it did separate and took me a few attempts to get my winged eyeliner how I wanted it, I do struggle with oily skin especially in my t-zone and by the end of the day when I had finished work I was like a grease ball, so if like me you suffer from oily skin I would definitely suggest using a powder to set your make-up to prevent oil breaking through during the day.

In my personal opinion I would not say the Baby Skin is a dupe for the Porefessional, the Porefessional definitely made my skin more matte which is a lot better for me to work with when it comes to applying my make-up and it keeps my oil at bay throughout the day. Did the Baby Skin erase my pores and make my skin more flawless looking? No, I would say it blurred my pores making them less noticeable and my skin looked relatively smooth but not really any different from normal, it is a great start out primer for people who aren't wanting to fork out the money for the porefessional (like me) and for the price who can argue that! It is also fragrance free so people with more sensitive skin could definitely try this out.
The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser is currently available in the UK online at Boots.
