Sigma Beauty | My Essential Brushes

by Kelly, January 13, 2014
After hearing about them and seeing them in action on Youtube from the likes of Jaclyn Hill and Nicole Guerriero I knew I had to get my hands on the Sigma make up brushes by Sigma Beauty and since purchasing these beauties nearly one year ago I haven't looked at any other make up brushes since. I have nothing but good things to say.. These are my holy grail when it comes to make up application and they are so much more affordable than MAC brushes. These brushes are made from synthetic fibres and are baby soft on the skin. I purchased my first Sigma Beauty Essential Kit with a set of twelve brushes from Amazon (see link here) for £108.00 which seems a lot of money straight of the bat but I see these brushes as more of an investment, that kit gave me every brush I needed for every type of make up application and to this day not one brush has fallen apart, or lost shape in the process of cleaning and most importantly to me there is no fall out! The most annoying thing with make up brushes is when the hairs fall out meaning they start to lose shape and effectively do not preform to a good enough standard, these brushes have done none of these things making me a very happy customer.

F30 - Large Powder Brush
I use this brush primarily for powder to set my make up and bronzer so give my skin a natural glow, this brush blends powders beautifully.

F80 - Flat Top Kabuki
I use this for foundation and foundation only! I absolutely love this brush I have never found another like it I tried the F60 and didn't really like it, I felt like it was smearing my foundation around my face leaving brush marks as opposed to evenly applying it, this gives my foundation a flawless finish and I couldn't live without it.

F40 - Large Angled Contour
Although the name of this brush suggests I should use it for contouring I actually use it for applying blush on the apple's of my cheeks it gives great results.

F35 - Tapered Highlighter
Perfect for highlighting the top of your cheek bones and if you are wondering why this brush is a copper colour and the rest are silver I took advantage of Sigma's free shipping back in December and purchased this from their copper collection along with some more blending brushes.

L-R E65 Small Angle
My eye routine would not be complete without these four brushes, together they make the perfect team in accomplishing a beautiful eye make up look from subtle to bold. I use the E65 to apply my gel liner (I use MAC fluid line in Blacktrack) I can change up my winged eyeliner from a small light work appropriate look for every day or a bold thick wing for weekends and evenings.
E30 - Pencil Brush
I primarily use this for more precise application of my eyeshadow, either in the outer V of my eye to pack on the colour accurately or for smoking out my lower lash line to give a more dramatic finish.
E25 - Blending
Well I think this one is pretty self explanatory but it gives me more controlled blending and allows me to buff out any harsh lines I might have.
E35 - Tapered Blending
The ultimate smokey eye brush, if I am creating a smokey eye for the evening time this brush is perfect for blending from the crease up to the brow bone creating a seamless finish.

Sigma is a US based company and although their website does offer worldwide shipping this can be expensive, they do offer free shipping on occasion and if you are interested in purchasing these brushes or any of their other products this is a good idea to look out for in the future as buying at the USD rate works out cheaper than purchasing from UK retailers. When I am purchasing my brushes in the UK I buy them from Love Make Up the prices are good and shipping is relatively speedy, I only recently discovered this website in the last 6-8 months, I wish I had discovered it sooner because their sets are cheaper than the sets on Amazon.
