Happy 2017! .. Better late than never 8) Back with a review on the Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer, that's a mouth full..
I am the biggest advocate for drug store concealers, but recently I can never find a concealer from the drug store that both conceals and brightens my under eye. I was using the Maybelline Age Rewind for a long while and although it concealed well it never gave me the brightened under eye that I prefer, it just kind of blended with my foundation and made my face look all one tone with no dimension. As I was running out and in the market for a new concealer I grabbed the Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer from the Sephora website last week. If you watch Lustrelux on Youtube she raves about this concealer so I thought I would give it a try.
As for which colour I needed, I had no clue! I ended up choosing 02 Meringue, the second lightest they make, I knew I would need something fair as my skin is currently very fair anyways so to get my bright under eye I need pretty much the fairest concealer on offer but I hate anything with a yellow undertone so I chose Meringue as it said 'Light with a neutral undertone'. I definitely picked up the perfect shade, it is probably a shade lighter than my foundation, I am currently using Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation in the shade 1.5 and these two work so well together, it blends into my foundation without looking cakey on top.
The Gel Serum Concealer definitely provides a good amount of coverage, it's not Pro Longwear kind of cover but I always found that a bit too much anyways. It's definitely an opaque layer of product once applied under the eye, not sheer at all. I have fine lines under my eyes and it doesn't matter what I use they are always visible, this doesn't change that which I expected and that's fine because I only want to brighten, I am very lazy with skincare I think if I moisturised my under eye more often I would have less lines!
Ok so wear time, can't fault it, yesterday I had this concealer on for ten hours! I left home at 7:30am and didn't get home until 5:30pm, it didn't budge all day, I will say I do set my concealer and t-zone with the Laura Mercier Loose Powder always, because I am oily.
Price point is good, it's not drug store prices obviously because Sephora isn't a drug store, however their line of own brand products are definitely affordable, this concealer was $14 which I think with the current exchange rate equates to about £11.. Compared to the £22.50 I used to pay for the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer I would purchase this Sephora one over that any day it's just as good if not better in my opinion.
Heres my only grumble.. The applicator, looks like a normal dofus applicator from my photo, which it is in appearance and it's shape but it is so rigid! Has no movement what so ever so I find when applying I have to dunk the applicator back in the tube a few times before I have enough product under my eye, I am used to more swooping motions when I apply my foundation but Sephora suggest you 'dot' this in your desired areas, I just find I need a little more product if I dot as they suggest, I prefer to 'swipe' around where I need it but the applicator doesn't really allow for this it's quite hard and the sponge tip itself isn't that thick, there is also a stopper cap at the top of the tube to prevent you from getting excess product.
Needless to say I will continue to repurchase this concealer until I find something that trumps it!
